Sterling

To Whom It May Concern,

I find it down-right cruel that you would interfere with my life this way. I mean, who asked you to walk into our lives as if we wanted this? I was walking along, just minding my own business and BAM! out of nowhere, there you are! You were the last thing I was looking for.

Not to mention that just two months ago, I got a little two year old fully potty trained...cruel. Just very cruel. I'm not sure you understand. I was done wiping bo-bo's! DONE. I swore this would not even be an option, until my youngest was 5 years of age...and there you go calling me a liar. I'm not sure what you can do to make this right, but I would start by taking those pictures off the Internet....once again - CRUEL! What do you expect a normal human being to do? Just walk away and do nothing? Oh, and don't even get me started on those commercials you have playing right now....so sad.

Although, this letter may come across like I am little mad, I also want to thank you. Thank you for making me realize that our family was missing something. We weren't looking for it (well, Husband was!), but now we are complete. I have known Sterling for less than 24 hours and I am so in love with her....thank you!

Sincerely,
Sterling's Mom

The background - Husband has been asking for a dog for a while now (probably a year!). I have said, 'absolutely NOT - NO WAY'. I told him that I would consider it when Kylie was 5...that's how serious I was. I mean, I have been wiping bottoms for several years now and I just wanted a break. Ky has been working on going potty for a while, but now that she if completely potty trained (even through the night) I was not ready to talk about getting a dog. Husband even had the kids asking Santa for a puppy. Kole put on his Christmas list 'a REAL puppy'. He told me he put 'real' so Santa wouldn't think he meant a stuffed animal...DARN!

I made the mistake of going online to look for the hours and phone number of SPCA and discovered that they had pictures and a description of each animal...that's where they pull ya in! The minute I saw Sterling, I was in love. I was actually worried that someone might snag her up before we could get there...that's how much I had fallen for her (she was new to the shelter). But, I didn't let anyone know that. I told Robbie that we would go look.

Are you kidding me? Who was I fooling? The second I saw her, I turned to Robbie and said, 'we gotta take her home'...and I literally mean, the second! But we had to make sure she was good with the kids. Well, if you know Kylie, you know that she is deathly afraid of dogs (another reason I was staying away from getting a dog).

She loves to look at them through glass, but that's about it....look at her, precious thing!

We spent about 3 minutes with her and we knew we had to have her! She is a full-bred Weimaraner (a dog that I have always wanted!!)...

I think she was ready to go to her new home!

Oh my gosh, isn't she beautiful?! We still can't believe she is ours! And I really can't believe I am this excited about something I didn't even want!

When we got home, she ran AND ran around in the backyard, but the minute she stepped inside the house, she was calm as can be!

And by the end of the night, Kylie was actually giving Sterling kisses!!!

Still can't believe I am so attached already!

I'll get back with you and let you know how our first full day goes!

ps - Yes, I'm up after 2 AM...evidently Sterling likes to sleep in bed with us and I have officially been knocked off the bed! Sterling and I will be having a little conversation about this in the morning....

Awe.... I love the smiles an animal brings to peoples faces. Not just the beautiful VERY REAL and happy smiles to a child. The joy that pours from their eyes....but the adults too. Those are real smiles. Often we find ourselves just smiling to be kind....but those are all real smiles in those photos. She is a pretty color too. Shiny fur.

Congrats to your new family member.

I have had my two cats for 13 years. They are getting pretty old. Between all the booties I have wiped over the years and little boxes I have changed.....

WAIT...

I still change diapers and litter boxes... we are FAR away from getting a dog too.

OMG, Biscuit would be in love. She is perfect for him. They look almost alike except she has the girl shaped head. Ahhh, I love Weimys. Biscuit is great with Ella, and trust be she drives that dog NUTS!
