Cancun or BUST!

WOW...one of these days I will get caught up on all the things going on around here! But for now, we have CANCUN! Awe, what a fun time I have SO been looking forward to. This was a trip through Husband's work and it is pretty much five days of straight playing! Although I have to say, I must be getting old or something, because after playing in the sun all day and then having dinner plans every night, I was pretty pooped come 9 o'clock!

I was pretty disappointing that it rained the first two days there, but then ME-HE-CO (that would be my way of pronouncing Mexico) made up for it the last three days...it was beautiful!

Our flight took off first thing in the morning and as we were waiting to board we heard an announcement that two separate planes had arrived (one from Afghanistan and one from Iraq) with troops returning home. It was AMAZING to see all of the people in the airport stand up and clap as they walked passed us. There were SO many troops...we literally stood there and clapped for at least 15 minutes as they passed us. Everyone was so touched, but especially having a husband in the military, it just gave me goose bumps watching each person walk by! It was truly amazing to watch!

It wasn't until we boarded our plane that we noticed that Kevin Nealon (from Saturday Night Live) was sitting in first class on our plane. He was very kind and signed autographs for people that asked. I actually got in trouble from an employee in the airport (in Mexico) for taking this picture...

And ONLY in Cancun will you walk out of the airport and literally see a bar to your immediate right...

So, as I mentioned it rained the first two days...this was the beautiful rainbow that appeared on our second day there...

Our first night there we had a huge reception and I didn't take any pictures...there was just too much going on. So, I was excited that I got at least ONE picture on our second night at dinner...

How random is this - In the restroom, the last stall had a glass wall where you could look out and watch fish swim around (which I'm guessing they think is really cool scenery)...well, I don't know about you, but I was a little uncomfortable going to the bathroom with a full length window as a wall!! I had to take a picture to show Robbie when I got back to the table!!!

And I'm sure you guessed here that on the third day we went parasailing!!!! I never in a million years would of dreamed that I would do this! I am not scared of heights at all...it is more a fear of the rope breaking or something crazy like that!! But I have to say (and I would never of guessed this), but it was SO relaxing! Seriously, it was like Husband and I were just floating in air (well, I guess we were!)....but it was so stinking cool! And Husband is seriously scared of heights, so he conquered a HUGE fear!! We had some friends take pictures to document it all for us!

This was our before picture!! ;)

It wasn't until we got home from our trip that I noticed that our 'photographers' thought they would be really funny and take this picture... ;)

There was no turning back at this point - off we go to the boat....

That's us getting ready to fly...

OK, this was the FUNNIEST thing EVER. It's little things like this that makes me remember why I fell in love with Husband! As we were on the jet ski on our way back to shore after parasailing, he said, 'Watch this...I'm gonna pull a David Hasselhoff', and of course I have NO CLUE what he is talking about! Well, evidently he was referring to having to dive into the water to save someone. But the funniest part was, our friends who were taking pictures had NO IDEA he was going to do this and she just happened to snap this picture as he was in mid-air doing his 'David Hasselhoff' move. I still can't believe she actually caught that on camera!!

Our third night out before dinner...

These are some of our favorite peeps, Matt & Kerri! Matt works in the Austin office and they are such great people! Our family has a trip planned to Disney World and they are arriving a couple of days before we leave, so our families are going to get to hang out together one night! This will be the first time we have hung out with our kids...it will be SO FUN!

Two peas in a pod....

Our last full day Husband and I went searching for seashells for the muncherheads (we actually found some really big ones!!) and we also did a little something for the kids that we thought they would love to see!

Our last night in Cancun we decided to go solo and I'm so glad we did. It was so nice to just enjoy us and take our time and do whatever we wanted. We went to one of our favorite places to eat, La Destileria!

Husband LOVES to have the guys come over and sing...and I mean, LOVES it! He was very sweet and asked them to play me a song and then he put me on the spot and asked them to take a picture with me. I was like, 'No, it's OK, thank you, though' and then of course those sweet men were like, 'NO, come on!'....dang it! But they were really good and super sweet to do it!

It wouldn't be 'us' if we didn't do something stupid like this...

And we were told that this dude's name was something like 'Banchico'...or something crazy like that. My point - he had a name!

One of the coolest parts was where our room was located. If you went out our front door, you literally walked right out to the pool, and if you walked out onto our balcony, you were pretty much on the beach. They had this little 'alter' where they have weddings and it was right outside our balcony!

Husband packing....getting ready to leave. :( Although, I was very anxious to get home to see my muncherheads!!

It was a much needed vacation and a very fun one at that! And I can't wait to do it again!!

I love Cancun! By the way, LOVE the picture of the rainbow. Do you remember how near and dear to my heart they are?? To me, every time I see one it's a reminder of God's promise to take care of me and whatever situation is going on in my life at the time. So let that be a blessing and encouragement to you, too :)
